Over-exposed ?

Has the medium of photography reached saturation point , have we seen it all ?

Supply is definitely outstripping demand , so many pictures, where will it end ?

Consumers are “Doing It For Themselves” !

Stock photography undermines commissioned photography leaving thinner portions of bespoke photography , how viable is commercial photography ?

Meanwhile the homogony continues , I’m convinced that one day the entire photographic population of Britain will descend on the same location , form a orderly queue and make captures of the same view , with the same camera type, in the same light using the same exposure , not sure which location ? Answers on a postcard , incidentally it should be remembered that the effect of this event will be a environmental and creative disaster !

Originality is hard to find within my own work these days and anywhere else, recognising this problem, is the first step to developing and seeking out some new form of creative uniqueness / solution , hopefully ?

Has everything been done before ? I don’t think so and I sincerely hope not !

Is showing how something looks enough ?

This search for uniqueness is probably where I’m at right now , Street Photography should deliver higher levels of uniqueness , sadly we rarely look beyond our self imposed comfort zones ?

A whacky serendipitous approach to subject and technique appears to be fulfilling my creative cravings for visual surprises , “Surprises” might be a polite word for my current investigations , I hope that the lessons learned from my recent landscape adventures will create a carry over into my Street work in some shape or form , only time will tell ?

Should photography always be about the subject , perhaps it could / should be about discovering the boundary lines of photography and the photographer within ?

The technique above is nothing more than Intentional Camera Movement , no fancy digital manipulations , special kit or insider knowledge , although the technique is not unique the results certainly are , each capture is unrepeatable and to a large degree, uncontrollable !

Despite the randomness of this approach , successive failure does breed “Success”, eventually , be prepared to fail big with ICM !

It might not be Street Photography but it will guide your creative thinking in the direction of a “Jazz” approach to picture making rather than allow you to dance the same old “Waltz” for evermore !

Sticking with the musical metaphor, a Blues approach might be worthy of consideration , a “Robert Johnson-esque” deal with the devil has been known to work !

Start by going down to the local crossroads…

Until next time, take care , take visual risks and stay safe…
