Welcome to the 2nd of this series of short blogs that are based around pictures from my archive , I hope the words that accompany the featured pictures offer a sense of context , explanation and inspiration to readers .

This candid capture is probably my favorite candid capture , ever !

I still can’t believe how the world aligned , allowing me to capture this politically themed moment that became part of my The State Of Britain series .

The picture shows a lady wearing a Theresa May mask on the back of her head while carrying a baby , a number of characters from British history to present date can be seen in the background , Theresa May was the Prime Minister , at a time when Britain was still trying understand the implications of the 2016 Brexit referendum leave vote , a sense of uncertainty , insecurity and division prevailed .

The surreal nature of this photograph suggests a number of interpretations , some kinder than others , head on the wrong way , looking to the past etc , etc , I’ll let you work out your own interpretation , this whole Brexit episode remains bitterly divisive to this day …

Truth be told , this is little more than a view from a summer carnival where the characters from a “British History” themed carnival float are waiting around in the shade before the start of the carnival parade , this was not a political rally or protest , this surprising scenario just turned up coincidentally and met the visual agenda of my Brexit era series perfectly , those who have read my blogs before will be aware of my sincere belief that the best pictures find me , this is one of those , this picture has always made me feel more like the recipient of a serendipitous gift rather than a hard working creator of a very unusual photograph …
